It could be an enhancement feature and has been there for a long time. Hi Cedric, How do you see this? IMHO, the feature is promising to improve much usability of alphabetic index, since a footnote can usually carry critical content of a paper/book.
[This is an automated message.] This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases. Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHunting_Session_3.5.0.-1 more detail on this bulk operation: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/RFC-Operation-Spamzilla-tp3607474p3607474.html
In 3.5: * Inserting an index item in footnotes is working correctly * The concordance file isn't matching text in footnotes. So part of the issue is still present.
Fixed in master and 3.5 branches: that was a one liner fix: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=41cd78b805a36d5676b2075a4860e9aee7bc5491 http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?h=libreoffice-3-5&id=376488f5747cdbcfc4905aa12a531a266303658d
Notes for unit test writers: Revert has to be done manually. For an example of a test dealing with indexes, see testToxmarkLinks in sw/qa/extras/uiwriter/uiwriter3.cxx
