Description Vossman 2011-01-14 10:29:56 UTC
1. Using Presentation, insert an animated gif created in GIMP.
2. Start the presentation.
3. Go to slide with GIF
4. GIF plays, but
  a. you cannot advance to next slide
  b. you cannot switch program command-Tab
  c. you cannot force kill program command-option-ESC (window is hidden below)
  d. you cannot escape from presentation mode
  e. closing laptop and re-opening does not help
  f. changing resolution of screen (via external monitor dongle) does not help
5. GIF continues to play
6. Force reboot computer

This has happened on two different presentations for me with two different animated GIFs.

Notes: Mac OS X 10.6; white MacBook; LibreOffice 3.3rc3

Work-around: do not use animated GIFs

Can not reproduce in RC4. I took one of the default templates for presentation provided with LibO - New Product Launch or Commercial Strategy, followed the wizard through til the end then added an animated GIF to one of the slides in about the middle of the slide sequence. Saved, reopened, started slideshow. I could navigate from beginning to end via mouse click or cursor arrows, the GIF embedded image slide shows up correctly as did the animation. No hang, no crash, no freeze.

Can you try this again with RC4 and report back ? Remember to delete or rename your /User/Library/Application Support/LibreOffice folder before starting RC4 to reinitialise the configuration.

It was crashing like crazy before, but I think I found out that it was a malformed animated gif and if I opened and saved it in GIMP it fixed. Now, I do not know where the bad gifs went.
