Description cwchia 2011-01-27 10:21:47 UTC
The ruler in Writer (Tools-Options-LibreOffice Writer-View) defaults to Char (Horizontal) and Line (Vertical).

Tried to change it to Inch or other measurement unit but it always revert back to the default value.

The same problem exist in both the vanilla LibO that I get from the official website (but strangely it says RC3 even though the website refers to it as Final Official version) as well as installation via LibreOffice Manager (an installation script use by PCLinuxOS)

Can't reproduce in Mac OS X, LibreOffice 3.3 final.

Just little out of topic here, I wonder if the problem is due to the fact that I actually got the RC3 instead of the final release? The tar.gz file that I downloaded from LibO when unpacked, shows that they are RC 3. The problem persisted even when I 'upgrade' it using LOManager as stated above. Will try to uninstall LibO and reinstall again.

This is only due to the fact that you have an asian locale. This option is the default one when enabling CJK lang in LibreOffice. I'll have a look at that one as it already annoyed me several times ;)

OK. Actually I have the UK locale both in my KDE as well as LibO.

I also have Enable Asian Language support ticked. This is the culprit. If I disable it, the measurement will stay whichever I want them to be, once I enable Asian Language support, it defaults back to Char & Line.

Hope that the patch is available soon.
