Description duke1995 2011-02-01 11:11:37 UTC
I am unable to open the attached Word document that was made in Microsoft Office (Word).

The document contains an Excel worksheet.

The worksheet contained personal data, so i've cleared all cells. So now the document only contains the empty worksheet, this is normal.

When I open the document in OpenOffice.org, I can see the (empty) table.
But when I try to open the document in LibreOffice, it doesn't open correctly.

The same document (now in odt format) but with some line breaks at the beginning of the document.

I added some newlines at the beginning of the document (see the attached document Document.odt) so that the inserted worksheet appears on the second page of the document.

Now when I open the document, I see the top of the first page correctly.
But when I scroll down, LibreOffice crashes when I reach the second page (with the inserted worksheet). The "Repair LibreOffice document" dialog is displayed, but repairing the document doesn't solve the problem.

More or less Reproducible with "LibreOffice 3.3.0 RC4 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO330m19 (build 6 / tag 3.3.0.4)]" I can open "Document.doc", but content looks destroyed, page is black, document opens "before page 1". When I start LibO with doubleclick on document, Start of LibO will take much time (1 minute) until screen with all toolbars and menu bar will be complete. There is no significant processor load. Double click opens spreadsheet object, but LibO is instable, I was not able to edit the spreadsheet.

If "Document.doc" is the only open document, I only can close LibO, but not only the document by clicking the "little close x".

Opening "Document.odt" from WIN Explorer shows a document with 2 (!) pages and the focus will be on the first empty page. Scrolling to page 2 (scroll slider) crashes LibO.

"1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52 (Build 8824)]" does the job in a perfect way and opens "Document.doc" without problem, it will show a table (Excel spreadsheet) on single page 1. Saving document with OOo 1,1,4 as "Document114.doc" will heal the problem for LibO, I will attach the document, may be the difference between this document and original sample document might help to find the problem?

Same good result with "Ooo-Dev 3.4.0 multilingual version English UI WIN XP: [OOo300m98 (Build 9568)]"

@Cédric:
please feel free to reassign!

On pc Debian x86-64, I had 2 different behaviours :
- on master updated today, it opens ok with Writer (I can see the table) and when I double click it opens it in "Calc mode" or something
- on 3.5 branch, it opens ok with Writer (idem) but LO considers it as an image, so I can double click on it
(tests made with a brand new LO profile each time)

I can open it very well in 4.1.1.2 even faster than Word...

Table looks good, identical to Word.

Editing performance is good too - faster than Word :).

Seems fixed.

Best regards,
Zeki
