I compare LibO 3.3.0 with OOo 3.2.1 First: I don't like that by default a Pivot table is made on a new sheet. It should be on the sheet with the data. Second: When I am working on Sheet2 (Dutch: Blad2) and want to make a Pivot table and choose for: Results to -Not defined- (Dutch: Resultaten naar -Niet gedefineerd-) and then write for instance cell F1 (without mentioning the sheet) the Pivot table is not made on Sheet2 but on Sheet1 starting in cell F1. I would expect that without mentioning the sheet, the pivot table is made on the sheet one is working on.
thanks for writing the issue Joop. wrt First: this behavour differs from that in OOo wrt Second: that is the same in OOo and LibO Assigned to Kohei.
The first change is intended, as the majority of cases it's more intuitive to create a table in a new sheet. The second change is due to the fact that the field expects a full absolute reference including the sheet name ($Sheet.$A$1). So a relative reference such as F1 without the sheet name the sheet defaults to the first sheet in the document.
I'll look into the second case to see if we can default to the current sheet, in case the sheet name is not explicitly given.
Thank you for providing me with this information. I think it is more intuitive to put the pivot table on the current sheet when no sheet name is given. I took me some time to find out that in a big document with several sheets, my pivot table for the data on sheet 10 had been made on sheet 1. I first thought that there was a bug and that no pivot table had been made at all (and returned to OOo 3.2.1 to make one). Later working in another document, I got the warning that the pivot table that I wanted to make would overwrite data and that was impossible since the cells I selected for the pivot table were all empty. Maybe is best that when -not defined- is chosen, the name of the current sheet is already in the box and that the cell where the pivot table must start can be added. Hello Joop, *, I stumbled upon this issue during my manual test of LO 3.4.0beta3 ... ;) Additionally to your information I found out, that – if you create a pivot table and choose "New table" – DataPilot does not create a new table (which I would expext), but replaces the current table sheet ... :( Tested with Debian Testing AMD64, LO 3.4.0beta3 (with Germanophone lang- as well as helppack) ... HTH Thomas.
