I can find ODF files by searching for terms in the document text, using Windows 7 built-in search, for ODF files written before I installed LibreOffice. Now this is broken in both OpenOffice 3.3 and LibreOffice 3.3 1. If I Save the document without exiting, the changes are not picked up by Windows 7 search, but previous content is found. 2. If I save changes on Exit, the contents of the document become invisible to Windows 7 search, so even the previous content is not found. I believe that previously, indexing to Windows 7 search only occurred when saving on Exit from OpenOffice, not when saving without exiting the document. This suggests the indexing operation is occurring, but failing. I cannot understand why installing LibreOffice would have caused the problem to also occur in OpenOffice, but files saved immediately before installing LibreOffice are indexed fine up to the time I installed LibreOffice, provided they have not been saved on Exit since installing LibreOffice. A separate but related bug is that Windows 7 indexing for OpenOffice (precursor to LibreOffice), when it previously was working, did not occur unless the file was saved on Exit (ie changes were not picked up if the document was saved by Ctrl+S before exiting the document). Note, Windows 7 search is working fine otherwise, eg for new files created by other sources such as a text editor.
