If we are to encourage people to be environmentally-aware, we should make it easy to adopt appropriate practices - thus print two-up per sheet, in draft mode, or brochure (booklet) mode as a default. In Windows, HP have pre-configured these options so that there is very little work to be done. I have an HP Offcie-Jet 8500 A909a and prefer 2pp/sheet and booklet printing for that reason. However, here are the difficulties: 1. It seems as if the LibO settings do not override the printer settings (set in printer manager). 2. Printing by default is in p1-last page order (why would one ever want to do that? Now evey print job must first be reordered). 3. If i print 2pp/sheet but do not reverse order, then printing is as I want it, but I need to physically reorder the pages as they are to be read. 4. If i change only the reverse order setting, then the pages come out 1/blank, 3/2, 5/4, etc. As if I am to read from right to left. 5. The booklet (brochure) printing is quite unpredictable. If I set it as "long side", then it comes out as (doc has 23 pages) sheet 1: blank/p1; 2/23 upside down sheet 2: 22/3; 4/21 upside down and so on. It is supposed to be sheet 1: blank/1; 23/2 and so on that one can read it as a book. If I set the "short side", then it comes out as sheet 1: 1/2; 3/4 sheet 2: 5/6; 7/8 which is at least readable, but cannot be folded and stapled as a book.
