This is a folow up to Bug 33304 - Headers, footers in the margin Help text concerning heading footer is at least misleading, I believe it's wrong. Current text ------------ Header: Adds a header to the current page style. A header is an area in the top page margin, where you can add text or graphics. Should be --------- Header: [...] A header is an area between the top page margin and the text body, [...] Reason ------ Current description is wrong, Header is not IN the margin. Same mistake on <http://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Footer> Current text ------------ Footer: Adds a footer to the current page style. A footer is an area in the bottom page margin, where you can add text or graphics. Should be --------- [...] is an area between the bottom page margin and the text body [...] Reason ------ Current description is wrong, Footer is not IN the margin. LOCALHELP in localized Help packages and other languages of WIKIHELP: I checked WIKIHELP DE, ES, FR and found the same mistake.
Rainer: Well, at least in English, 'margin' can both mean both the space, as well as the actual "very end" of the paper, so I think the wording is correct; or at least I do not find it misleading. And if I am not mistaken, you can configure the header to cover just the entire upper margin, in which case the 'between' might be confusing... Resolving as NOTABUG - please feel free to reopen if you really think it is wrong.

But it's without interest what other meanings "margin" might have in English, in LibO it's the area you adjust with Menu 'Format > Page > Margins'. That top margin is the area between the top border of the paper sheet and beginning of the text body (and I can't see any contradiction to your considerations). > And if I am not mistaken, you can > configure the header to cover just the entire upper margin, in which case the > 'between' might be confusing... You are wrong. The Top margin always is above the Header, at least within more than 8 years of using OOo and LibO I did not find a way to get the Heading into the the area defined with 'Format > Page > Margins > Top' (but, for example, it's possible to put a drawing into the margin area). Can you please try and leave a comment here, if your results differ from my ones? If you do not get other results, the Help text is less precise that it could be. And indeed, now I am no longer satisfied with my suggestion for improvement. My new "Should be" ------------------ [...] A header is a separate area between the top page margin (defined in Menu 'Format > Page > Margins > Top') and the main text body [...]
