Description rsimmons0 2011-04-12 19:56:05 UTC
The first screen you get to after starting Libre Office where you can choose to open one of its components or open a saved document (see attached png) has problems redrawing after you mouse over any of the buttons on it.

Also, it corrupts or stops the redraw of other programs that are running at the same time.

When you mouse over a button, it leaves a bar shape the same color as the background directly below the button or above. None of these are really a problem. This is just a cosmetic problem.

I am using Kubuntu 10.10 with KDE 4.6.2 on an Acer Aspire 3680-2633 laptop. The video chipset uses the xf86-video-intel 2.12.0

This bug also affected all previous versions of Libre Office that I have had on this laptop, and all other versions of Ooo. It is reproducible on a Dell Dimension 3000 running the exact same software versions as above.

Screen capture of the problem

This is a screen capture of what happens when this bug occurs. The bar on the right side under the upper right button is exactly what happens under all the buttons after mouse over. The box on the left is what happens when you move another window to the front and back again on or near Libre Office.

NOT reproducible] with "LibreOffice 3.3.2 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:202 / tag 3.3.2.2)]", seems to be Linux specific.

This one bight be related to or DUP of
Bug 34954 - Horizontal Lines in Start Center

What do you think concerning my suspect that this one might be related to Bug 34954?

I wouldn't expect it to be reproducible on the windows build. It is a bug in how Libre Office works with the video drivers. Also, I included all the information about my OS version (I know it may seem like linux people are speaking Hungarian, but "I am using Kubuntu 10.10 with KDE 4.6.2... The video chipset uses the xf86-video-intel 2.12.0" is the information you are looking for ;) As for version of Libre, the about box has more specific data:
LibreOffice 3.3.2
OOO330m19 (Build:202)
tag libreoffice-3.3.2.2, Ubuntu package 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu2~maverick1

After looking at Bug 34954, I would say that these two are exactly the same bug, so you this one can be marked a duplicate, I'll just add my 2 cents to that one.

Finally, I wanted to add that this bug is as old as the hills. I just never felt like reporting it until now. I remember the same sort of thing happening in the Start Center of every version of Openoffice.org going back 10 years or so. It depends on what video card chipset you use, so it is either a bug in Libre Office, or a bug in xf86-video-intel, or both (the most likely choice).
