Description Elton Woo 2011-04-24 16:13:17 UTC
Created attachment 46032 [details]
screen capture of dialog pane to enable extra options

MACHINE: Apple Macintosh Macbook 2.26 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2Gb 1067 MHz DDR3
OS: Apple OS/X 10.6.7 Build 10J869.
PRINTER: Hewlett Packard All-in-One Model C4345.
SOFTWARE:
LibreOffice 3.3.2
OOO330m19 (Build:202)
tag libreoffice-3.3.2.2

Envelopes can only be fed in lengthwise on the RIGHT side of the paper feeder. Therefore the output should be also on the right side of the platen.

WHAT HAPPENS: Printed output is done on the LEFT side of the platen, so nothing is printed on the envelope, but instead on the platen, wasting ink and making a mess.

CONFIRMED by placing a standare letter size sheet and printing the envelope 'as usual'.

/REM: this problem was previously reported in several bug reports to Open Office.
e.g. http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=106617

NOTA:
1) In NeoOffice envelope print _as they are supposed to print_, without any problem.
2) in the current Libre Office, I found that ... in order to PRINT ENVELOPES PROPERLY, I had to do the following:
       1) File =>
Print =>
Layout =>
       2) * enable* *REVERSE page orientation, THEN
       3)  Click on "Print"

COMMENT: The user should not have to do these extra steps each time just to print envelopes.

Please fix. Thank you.

Update and CORRECTION: If I test the printing with a letter-size sheet, using the 'reverse page orientation", the print comes out on the correct side of the page.

HOWEVER, when I insert a #10 envelope, using this option, the printer utility shows an error message: "wrong media size".

As such I still cannot *correctly* print an envelope with Libre Office on the Mac.
Print is sent to the wrong side of the platen (left, instead of the right side where the envelope must be fed lengthwise

I am having this exact same issue with LibO 3.4.4 on Windows XP with an HP Desktop 3050 J610.

The printer requires envelopes to be fed through face up on the right side of the tray, but LibO is only printing on the left. Using any combination of the envelope orientation selection of vertical-left/right and print from top/bottom all produce the same result of printing on the right side of the tray.

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:
