Created attachment 46045 [details]
a simple approach

Make it possible to edit/modify a style directly from the Styles combo box in the Formatting toolbar. Thus without having to open the Styles and Formatting window.

I added an attachment which shows how this idea could be implemented without lots of changes to the UI.

Hi,
Thanks for your idea!
Can you be more clear on what is supposed to happen after selecting the "Edit Style"
Will that implement changes just made with the toolbar? Or will it implement changes that are to be made?
Do you know the option "Update style", top right on the Styles and Formatting window? How does your idea relate to that?
Thanks - Cor

I didn't know the "update style" option (this is my problem with open/libre office: im(h)o everything is hidden in windows that lead to more windows in which one would find a button which drops down a list of super hidden top secret options. I know I overdo it, but I'm not used to open/libre office.)

Now I know the option, I must say that I like it: it's pretty handy.
However, it's not what I meant with an "edit style" option in the styles combo box. What I meant was the 'edit' option (I don't use an English UI) you get when you right click on a style in the "Styles and Formatting" window. That option should only be 2 clicks away for styles to be 'user friendly' and it is, I just didn't know I could access it from the context menu. My problem seems to be solved already.

Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to put the "Update style" option in "Styles combo box", instead of what I suggested.

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:

Request for enhancement is still valid in LibreOffice 3.5.1

I read several useful ideas, under the flag of a wide formulated Summary of this issue :-)
So in the current state, I'd rather close the issue ;-)

Of course that would be a pitty for the good ideas .... Any change that you are willing to look for related issues in BugZilla an pour that together to a few clear comprehensive ideas, bugs, wishes ?
thanks! Cor
