Description Ed 2011-04-25 03:23:53 UTC
Currently installing 3.4 Beta versions overwrites any previously installed stable versions. This happens with both the Windows and DEB packages (I have not tested the RPM or MacOS versions), and the Windows package removed the stable installation even if I tell it to install in a different folder.

It is important to be able to have a stable version installed at the same time as the beta version to:
1.  Compare the two versions to see if bugs are new;
2. To do serious work that the current Beta is not suitable for.

OOo has always allowed this, with stable versions being installed as "OpenOffice.org" and developer released as "OOo-DEV". Can LO do something similar, installing beta builds as something like "LO-DEV"?

Thanks - has already been reported (but admittedly with a not-so-good title)
