Description toddrme2178 2011-04-29 05:24:35 UTC
It would be really useful to be able to set a caption to be located to the left or right of an object. This is particularly useful if you want the caption to be a single number. These are very common format for formulas, for example:

[Formula] (1)
[Formula] (2)

or

(1) [Formula]
(2) [Formula]

Comment 7 sasha.libreoffice 2012-12-01 08:54:35 UTC
in 3.6.3:
It is adjusted in Tools->Options->LO Writer->Auto caption
There is option Position with variants Above/Below which works only for tables and frames. It not works for formulas and have no variants To left/To right

As I've been able to confirm the enhancement request I am marking as:

New (confirmed)
Enhancement
Medium - seems useful for anyone using captions to have some freedom of where the caption is placed

Note: A useful option would be to have a similar graphic as you do when you do Format -> Page -> Background and select Graphic, the dialog then allows you to select 9 placement points for the background image. Similar functionality for captions would be nice.
