Description Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2011-05-13 00:46:02 UTC
For "LibreOffice 3.4Beta4 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) [DEV300m103 (Build:4)]" I had to download ORACLE PDF Import 1.0.4, PDF import did not work without (I only got text import filter when I tried).

So it seems that PDF import Extension has been missing in installation bundle.

In my new installed 3.4Beta5 (installed without uninstall of Beta4) I checked in customized installation that PDF import will be integrated, now after installation I still see ORACLE PDF Import 1.0.4, although I believe that still 1.0.3 is integrated into installation:
<Bug 35604 - Old PDF Import Extension included>
Is installer so intelligent that it will not remove a more current version or is this an indication that Installation is broken for this item?

It should be checked whether bundled PDF import filter will be installed with a completely new installation.

Into 3.4 Beta 5 I can see "PDF Import 1.0.5 Oracle"

@vitriol:
Whit what OS? Did you have checked in LibO3.4Beta4? Does your PDF import work? How die you install (with uninstall of former version?)
But your observation seems to confirm that there might be something irregular.

Win7 64 bit

There was not preinstalled extension in Beta 4, as far I remember...

> Does your PDF import work?

Yes, it works

> How die you install (with uninstall of former version?)

I have uninstalled Beta 4 before installing Beta 5, but I have not deleted the user profile
Comment 4 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2011-05-13 03:22:37 UTC
I can confirm vitriol's observations more or less. I did a compete new install with 3.4beta5 after uninstallation of beta4 and deletion (rename) of my userprofile: Now I see Oracle PDF Import 1.0.5 in extensions manager.

When I switch back to my renamed user profile I again see PDF import version 1.0.4.

So may be a better description of the problem would be: "Manually installed PDF import extension prevents installer from installing current version from install package"?

Bundled extensions will install at system level (shared), manual installed extensions will normally install at user level instead.
Maybe user prevail against system if you have both installation. It seems quite logical, ad permit a user to update an extension for his profile only.

Yes, the extension installed by user should always override the system one => closing.

Thank you both for digging this down.
