Description Greg 2011-05-18 15:27:50 UTC
This isn't a bug, but a feature request, and it applies to multiple applications (Writer, Draw, and Calc):

I would like the PDF Export settings to be saved with the ODF file, instead for the entire office suite. Some of my documents need to be exported to PDF showing the table of contents, and others must show no table of contents. I would like to set that once and have it remembered for each document.

Thank you for the great applications!

Greg

Design team: this was self-confirmed ages ago and never reviewed. Probably wontfix

Don't we already achieve this for single ODF documents when export as a hybrid-PDF? On reopen of the hybrid PDF into LibreOffice it will have the PDF settings it was created with, right?

Of course the full ODF is embedded as a custom stream into the PDF, so it may not be for everyone (e.g. any privacy/security issues with the ODF content).

IMHO => WF as doing more would require extending ODF.

We remember the last user choice but not per document.

Hybrid PDF does not restores the export settings, and I'm not sure if compression level, for instance, is saved with the document.

But I don't see the obstacle of saving the parameters with LibreOffice specific tags in the ODF. Rather worry about the can of worms.

Miklos, what's your take here?

Tend to agree: whatever we write to documents is a cost, we have to be compatible with that forever from now on. I always think twice before writing something to ODF, if there is an alternative.

So let's resolve WF.
