Update and drop queries are not implemented in LibreOffice Base. It is not even possible to use the built-in SQL editor to create such queries as the query fails. Update and drop queries are needed in Base so that Base could be an alternative to Microsoft Access in schools. The ECDL Advanced Database exam requires the use of these queries. There is no open source alternative that could create such queries, which may cause dependency on proprietary software in education.
Yes, they are, but not via the Query manager user interface. Try Tools > Options > SQL. Enter your SQL statement there. If it runs you will be told it has been executed successfully. If not, you will get an error message. However, you will not get a graphical representation of what you are doing. In order for the changes to be registered when using DROP TABLE "TableX", you need to quit the whole LibreOffice application (including quickstarter if launched) and reload the ODB file again. So, the conditions of the ECDL can be met, if you know where to look. That is not to say that it would be nice to have a feature, as in Access, where you could do such operations from a button, or a menu entry within the ODB container framework. I will change the title of your request to reflect this. Alex
