the two files for testing the bug (error in named range from xls files)

Hello,

Version 3.4 rc2
SO: Ubuntu 11.04
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)

When a Calc document using formulas with named range included is saved as xls format, at reopening xls file the contents is marked as #NAME? instead the named range.

This problem is not present to open the file in odf native format...and the 3.3.2 version is opening the xls file very well.

Thanks

RC2 is bit by bit identical with release version, so separate items in the version picker are useless. Changes have been discussed with Michael Meeks.

OK the error is present in:

3.4 release
3.4 RC2
3.4 RC3

Does any body know about a solution in progress?

Thanks

Issue exists on 3.4.2 rc1 -- named range does not save from ods to xls.

LibreOffice 3.4.2
OOO340m1 (Build:201)

Ubuntu 11.04
GNOME 2.32.1

-Create a named range and save as Excel 97/2000/XP.
The named range does not exist after closing/opening the xls file.

I hope this bug is fixed before the final version... version 3.4.2 should be the one for enterprises.

I'll take it. As long as you don't set the component to Spreadsheet it is hard to find such bugs.
Comment 7 Markus Mohrhard 2011-07-21 02:20:49 UTC
should be fixed in 3.4.2

Hi Ismael, *,
Could you please check this in the release candidate for 3.4.2?

Thanks! Cor

I can recreate this issue as in my comment #4 with 3.4.2 RC2. The named range is deleted when saving to Excel 97/2000/XP. Perhaps this is a different issue than Ismael's? Please advise to open a new issue, or this bug report re-opened. Thanks.

Please be aware of the difference between database ranges(will not be exported to xls) and named ranges(will be exported to xls).

Excel does not support the concept of named database ranges and therefore we can't export them to xls.
