simple spreadsheet with OLE objects on the sheet 1

Step to reproduce in LibreOffice 3.4.1 rc1 :
- open a new spreadsheet
- insert some data and create a chart from these data
- save the spreadsheet
==> although you do not do nothing new the file has yet the status modified

go to sheet 2 and save the file again ==> works as expected

If you open an existing spreadsheet whom current sheet is one which contains an OLE object then the file get modified status immediately.

It seems to me that there is a big problem with the update of OLE objects in the current sheet. Perhaps linked to bug 38541.

It is very annoying bug because when you want to close the file you get the warning that the file has been modified and not saved. End-user will not know if its work has been safely saved or not.

Confirmed under Ubuntu 10.04 86_64, XP and Vista.

Best regards. JBF

I think there is a potential data loss if the file is big and the OLE object is a chart. In such a case I got the message that the cannot be saved and the console gave message from libc that there was to many files open.
That kind of message is very worrying

[Reproducible] with Daily Build nearby "LibreOffice 3.4.1RC1 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO340m1 (Build:101)]". And yes, I see danger of dataloss because mechanical "Discard" (but not really "critical").

Thanks for the great report, this is a side-effect of 38590 (though it looks unrelated) - and will be fixed in 3.4.1 rc3. :-)

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 38590 ***

Since all new unconfirmed bugs start in state UNCONFIRMED now and old unconfirmed bugs were moved to NEEDINFO with a explanatory comment, all bugs promoted above those bug states to NEW and later are automatically confirmed making the CONFIRMED whiteboard status redundant. Thus it will be removed.
