The word "Latviešu" is not recognized

In Latvian, many characters have diacritics. In the file, everything looks fine. However, the spellchecker rejects all words having characters with diacritics and suggests replacing such characters with non-Latvian ones.

This works correctly in OpenOffice.

See the screenshots of "Latviešu valodas ābece" -- the only word without diacritics ("valodas") is treated correctly by LO, and all three words are treated correctly by OOO.

The same problem exists in Mac OS 10.4.11.

I doubt that that works correctly in CALC

@haim kilov:
Please attach a sample document containing a short text with few words and English translation!

Latvian spellcheck works

Currently, the Latvian spellcheck works perfectly well (LO 5.2.2.2, Mac OS 10.8.5).
