The graphics in this document are not shown correctly

Bug 53618 - WW8: Graphic content moved, seems larger after import
http://openoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=53618

I submitted this bug report nearly six years ago (August 2005) but I notice that the problem is still present in LibreOffice 3; OO.o 3.2 on Linux (Ubuntu) and OO.0 3.2 Windows XP

I find it a major shortcoming in Libre Office as I can not presume that Graphics created in MS Word will be reproduces accurately in Open Office.

So, confirmed - status set to new and changed to a permission problem.

@Rainer: Could you please check this bug (Not confirm, just if everything is done properly...

I still see some questions:
a) Is this a general problem or only visible with this particular document and the
   particular picture?
b) what type of picture / object causes the problem?

Currently only 1 document in the world with some very strange creation of graphics showing curves in a coordinates system is affected, so I don't see this one with major severity

BTW: I would prefer component WRITER with a Summary link like "FILEOPEN particular .doc ....", because I do not understand these dev. Components and bcause no normal user will find a DUP under such a Component.

Due to reporter's comments the problem is inherited from OOo, so the appropriate version is 3.3.0 Beta2, I modified

I do not think that it is a good idea to use a Whiteboard key word "openofficebug" without any explication. For what should it be useful?

I tested the file on LibreOffice version 5.2.0.4 running on Windows 7 (32 bit) and the problem is still present. The graph it still displaced from the axes and the axis labels are also displaced from the grid of squares.

This bug is still present in LibreOffice 5.2.0.4 running on Windows 7
Whenever I try and edit a document in LibreOffice that has graphics in it that were created in MS Word, there is a chance that the graphics will be messed up. Things have got better over the last 11 years, but I still can not use LibreOffice confidently when sharing documents with colleagues.

Dear Phillip,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team
