Hi,

You don't say which OS you are using, nor whether it is a 32bit or 64bit version of LibO. Please indicate this in your report.

Thanks,

Alex

Please specify where you create your textblock, from where do you copy it ?
When you write "textblock" do you mean a block of text, say, in Writer or Calc, or do you mean a text frame ?

Without this I don't see how I can even attempt to reproduce what you have done.

I don't seem to be able to paste free text into a report created by the Oracle Report Builder, so am I to assume you are talking about the built-in old style report designer, and that you have not installed (or have removed) the ORB (Oracle Report Builder), or that you do not have Java installed on your machine ?

Hi,
I checked LibO in Ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04 and Windows XP 32bit version
I created a new database in last version LibO
No matter what and where copy/paste in report: textblock or label or line
I installed from the official site LibO
I removed the built-in version of ubuntu
Comment 5 TOTOIIIUr 2011-08-22 02:26:12 UTC
I used a new type of report
Comment 6 Alex Thurgood 2011-08-22 05:48:56 UTC
Thanks for the info, but I still need to know which version of the Report Designer you are using.

Please indicate whether you can see (and its status) Report Builder 1.2.1 in the list of extensions that are installed, which you can see via the Tools > Extension Manager.

Yes. There's Report Builder 1.2.1
Comment 8 Alex Thurgood 2011-08-23 02:01:01 UTC
Tested with nightly build for Mac OSX from 21/08/2011.

1) OK, so I open an ODB file containing one or more tables and select the Report icon on the left of the main window.

2) I choose "Create Report in Design View from the list of report creation choices. The Report Designer window opens, and I am presented with a screen having 3 parts, a Page Header, Detail, and Page Footer. I also have a smaller independent window containing the fields of the table in my database, from which I can drag and drop a selected field onto my report canvas.

3) At the top of my Report Designer window are 5 active buttons, from left to right :

Select, Properties, Label Field, Text Box, Graphic, Chart, Horizontal Line, Vertical Line.

4) I create a new Writer document and type some text into it. I select the text and then copy it into the copy buffer (Ctrl-C).

5) I switch back to my Report Designer window, click in the Page Header and press Ctrl-V or try to paste the copied text via the Edit menu.

Result : nothing happens, no text is pasted. No crash.

6) I draw a TextBox on my Page Header of my Report Designer window, then save and close the Report as "Report 1" (default name).

7) I re-open the Report which is now an ODT file. I paste the text from my Writer document into any of the available places in the document, header, header 2 column table, body, detail section. The copied text appears, and I get no crash. I can save the report document and re-open it, no crash.

So, TOTOIIIUr, unless you can be more precise about what it is exactly you are doing I can not reproduce your problem on Mac OSX with the latest development build from master. I will repeat the process for the latest production version to see if problem is present there.

I would add that when I re-open the Report after having pasted text into any of the sections, that text is not saved, or at least is not visible. This might be a separate bug, but I get no crash.

OK, I have managed to confirm the behaviour with latest build from master on Mac OSX, here's how :

1) Create a blank new Report using "Create Report in Design View".

2) In the field selection window, double-click a field from the list. It is inserted into the Detail section of the report by default.

3) Cmd-X (Ctrl-X) to cut that field from the Detail section and then Cmd-V (Ctrl-V) to paste into the Header Page section.

4) Expected result : the field gets copied into the Header Page section.
5) Actual result : LibreOffice crashes (seg fault).

Attached crash trace. Confirming.

@TOTOIIIUr : it would have been much more helpful had you provided precise and detailed steps to reproduce instead of me having to guess at how you managed to get the application to crash.

This is a duplicate of a bug already identified by one of the devs so closing. See bug 39950.

Since all new unconfirmed bugs start in state UNCONFIRMED now and old unconfirmed bugs were moved to NEEDINFO with a explanatory comment, all bugs promoted above those bug states to NEW and later are automatically confirmed making the CONFIRMED whiteboard status redundant. Thus it will be removed.
