[This is an automated message.] This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases. Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHunting_Session_3.5.0.-1 more detail on this bulk operation: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/RFC-Operation-Spamzilla-tp3607474p3607474.html
I confirm it is true for LOdev 3.5.0beta2 ID сборки: 8589e48-760cc4d-f39cf3d-1b2857e-60db978 To reproduce save input file to DOC word 97/2003 Open it in LO or Word - the text direction is lost.
in LibO 3.3.4 not reproducible beginning from 3.4.3 reproducible Therefore regression reproduced in LibO 3.4.3 in Windows XP 32 bit and in LibO 3.5.0 beta 2 in Fedora 64 bit Change version to 3.4.3 because it is most early reproducible
This problem is due to a limitation of Word 97-2003 file-format. It does not allow to have the text direction of a single run set if this run is in the table cell. In word, the text direction of all runs of text in a cell are given by the text direction of the cell itself. There is not an easy fix for this one: 1) If you are speaking to word 2007 and later, you can try in LibreOffice 3.5.0 save as Word 2007-2010 document. It will retain that text orientation, which is supported in those versions. 2) We could try to set the cell text orientation when we find a run with vertical text. Which might work in the typical cases, but still is not complete 1:1 feature mapping. Moreover, it is not too easy to implement.
Sorry, I'm not clearly get your point. It is not reproduced on LibreOffice 3.3.4 OOO330m19 (Build:401) tag libreoffice-3.3.3.1, Ubuntu package 1:3.3.4-0ubuntu1. 1. Save as .doc in LO 3.3.4 2. Open .doc in LO 3.3.4 Directions are ok. As I heard in LO 3.4 for .doc OPEN/SAVE regressions were introduced.
guess it is reproducible beginning from 3.4.0, but I have only 3.4.3 installed
This's not reproducible with export in docx, but the ticks are replaced with rectangles here.
Created attachment 62737 [details] Still reproduced in LO 3.5.4.2 Win7 Still reproduced in LO 3.5.4.2 Win7 I want to take you attention to fact that .doc(W97/W2003) and .docx format are different formats.
Still reproduced in LO 3.6.0.4 Win7
Still [Reproducible] with parallel installation of Master "LOdev 4.0.0.0.alpha1 - ENGLISH UI / German Locale [Build ID: dec8fe)]" {tinderbox: @6, pull time 2012-11-13 06:07:28} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) with separate /4 User Profile for Master Branch I read Fridrich's comment concernint WORD 97 TABLE text rotation supports Nevertheless, that worked some better with LibO 3.3.3, what produced documents where LibO showed correct rotation (but MS WORD Viewer had some problems with the documents, same effect with OOo 3.1.1). AOOo 3.4.1 shows the same problem. Looks like a HardHack <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40539>
I see up/down with Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: 80cbc04c2cbe25ebdfe2f22bb2e5ba62728e963) but the spacing is weird and the direction is reversed. Moving to 3.6 MAB as 3.5 has come to end of life and we are trying to close the 3.5 most annoying meta bug. This is a broad enough issue that I think leaving on MAB is a good idea, also it's a regression which means at one point it worked correctly....going back 2 years to find out what broke it seems unlikely :-/
i reproduce it on libreoffice 3.6.2 but i can't reproduce it on master Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 8fd28fe7373fcdf17c061c3666b6012445e3bfc
@Faisal Menawer do you reproduce it on LibO 4.0.3 and 4.1.0 beta?
@tommy i can reproduce it on both 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 beta sorry i can't test it on 4.1.0 beta because it is keep crashing :/
