It seems there is a new dictionary available under GPL from <http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3042900/dictionaries.zip>, I found that on Apache OOo Bugzilla <https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=118493> Should be tested and added! I will contact author!
@Sophie: Any idea how we can test that? Currently "Pāli" does not exist in the languages list. Ans I do not know how to install an existing dictionary. It seems that IZArc can not unzip the source file? I can install the zip as Extension, but it seems useless because I can't select "Pāli" as text language. - Reported with Bug Submission Assistant -
@András: How can that be added to the languages list?
*** Bug 41596 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I should add that Pali supports several scripts ( Sinhala,Khmer, Burmese,Thai ,Devanāgarī,...) the dictionary I provide is based on Roman script with diacritical marks. Maybe it should be show in the language list ? (eg pli-ROMAN, pli-KHMER,...)
Maybe it should be (In reply to comment #4) > Maybe it should be show in the language list ? (eg pli-ROMAN, pli-KHMER,...) Yes, it would be great if you could contribute a recommendation list as complete as possible. Can you contribute already some test experience (how to install, how to use your dictionary)?
If you want to be complete I would recommend this list for pali transliterations : pli-ROMAN pli-BENGALI pli-CYRILLIC pli-DEVANAGARI pli-GUJARATI pli-GURMUKHI pli-KANNADA pli-KHMER pli-MALAYALAM pli-MYANMAR pli-SINHALA pli-TELUGU pli-THAI pli-TIBETAN
(In reply to comment #2) > @András: > How can that be added to the languages list? It is quite easy, see http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=0abc701a09b653ade8798fd9f2f6944f1b3ad6c7 However, the many transliterations listed in comment 6 cannot be supported correctly until LibreOffice adopts BCP47 standard. For the time being I can add language 'pli'. The dictionary provided is based on Roman script, so currently we don't have to worry about other transliterations. I think it would be better to create an extension from this dictionary and not to add it to default LibreOffice install.

András: Yes, I agree. We rugently need a working dictionary repository, the current solution with link to ooo-planet is a mess.do you know any plans? I will also ask on website@global.libreoffice.org @Jean-Francois Romang Did you call your languages in comment 6 "pli" intended or accidently? Why not "Pāli"? or do I understand something wrong? If you have problems to create a working .oxt you should ask on mailing lists. But I believe your .zip should also work, I will check with next available WIN dev-build wiht Language

Thanks for checking !
I added Pali as a selectable document language. Spellchecker should work now, providing that it is correctly registered to LibreOffice. Dictionary extrensions should be uploaded to http://extensions-test.libreoffice.org/ (it will become http://extensions.libreoffice.org/ soon). A few dictionaries are already there. All extensions should be uploaded there by their maintaners so they can manage versions.
(In reply to comment #9) Thx, I see <http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Appendix:ISO_639-3_language_codes> (In reply to comment #10) Closing for now?
See "Pali latin" in parallel installation of MinGW Master "LibO-dev 3.5.0 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) English UI [(Build ID: 2ba5d12-e8c71c5-41e7bcd-4b83b90)] (daily/MinGW_cross-compilation2011-10-25_00.12.09)", so Fixed!
Eike Rathke committed a patch related to this issue. It has been pushed to "master": http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=fa031ec8eb216978b1646ab2459cf5900891d98c special case for Pali 'pi-Latn' vs 'pli', fdo#41599 related The patch should be included in the daily builds available at http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours. More information about daily builds can be found at: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Testing_Daily_Builds Affected users are encouraged to test the fix and report feedback.
@Jean-Francois: With the above change Pali Latin is now tagged/recognized as 'pi-Latn' effective for LO 4.2. Though a fallback exists for the legacy 'pli' tag to be able to correctly read existing documents using it, I suggest you rename your dictionary accordingly, i.e. pi-Latn.dic and pi-Latn.aff (or pi_Latn.dic and pi_Latn.aff, we accept both, hyphen and underscore). Or even better, create a dictionary extension and upload to http://extensions.libreoffice.org/ For how to create such extension take a look at an example of http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center?getCategories=Dictionary The .oxt files are renamed zip files so you can just unzip them for a peek.
