Description Winfried Donkers 2011-11-11 00:34:48 UTC
Menu 'Data-Group' has all its items disabled, menu 'Data-Group and outline' has all its items enabled (if applicable) and is documented in the help file.

Menu 'Data-Group'should be removed from the menu.

(LibO version 3.5 also has this behaviour)

There is no menu Data-Group (not even in version 3.3.4.1). Only Data-Group and Outline.

Can you explain? Maybe this no longer applies?

Apologies. There is a typo in the Description. You are obviously referring to Format-Group (as mentioned in the bug title)

I could not find any use for Format-Group under Windows (although there is a description of the functionality in the Help file). The options are always greyed-out.

Maybe it works under other platforms?

Pedro,
No apologies needed, I need to apologise for a bad description in comment #1.
You are right. it should be

Menu 'Format-Group' has all its items disabled, menu 'Data-Group and outline' has all its items enabled (if applicable) and is documented in the help file.

Menu 'Format-Group'should be removed from the menu.

BTW, version 4.0.1 still has this useless menu item under Format.

?
'Format > Group' and 'Data > Group and outlines' are 2 differents things.

1st is for grouping graphics and is disabled unless you have graphics selected.
2nd is for grouping data (rows/columns).

By graphics, i mean drawning objects, forms... (with my bad poor english, i'm not sure of the terms :( )
and it is not useless, even if I usualy use Contextual menu instead of 'Format > Group'.

You are correct. In fact several options should disabled in the Format menu when a cell is selected.

Since options Anchor, Arrange, Flip, Group and Graphic only apply to Drawings and not cells they should be disabled (greyed out) in the Format menu unless a Drawing is selected.

In fact this also applies to Writer.

I checked and tested, you are correct. Thank you for your help!
