Math formula with wrong object/font size

I create a word file with Formula Editors' objects inside it.
Save it as word.
I then Open it.
All objects of formula editor, have wrong size.
If I double click on an object to edit it, and then click outside it without any change, the formula object gets updated and become the correct font and object size.

A simple one equation doc file that the bug appears.

The bug appears not only on the specific file, but in all my doc files, after some libreoffice upgrade. Saddly I cannot recall in wich version upgrade of libreoffice this happened.

NOT reproduced with

LOdev 3.5.0beta2
4ca392c-760cc4d-f39cf3d-1b2857e-60db978
Ubuntu 10.04.3 x86
Linux 2.6.32-37-generic Russian UI

Can you try with 3.5?
Comment 5 Toussis Manolis 2012-01-10 13:22:43 UTC
I have
LibreOffice 3.4.4
OOO340m1 (Build:402)

the bug appears both in amd64(in my desktop) and x86 (in my laptop)
both in archlinux

I prefer not to install anything (3.5b) in my pc. I prefer not to install any beta version in my pc , because I use them at work.
Can you wait for LibreOffice 3.5 official release to test it.
If not, and you want to close the report before 3.5, let me know, to see what I can do.

Thanks

Yes, I can. I have seen this bug many times before, but now it seems to be fixed at least with my documents and your test file.

>let me know, to see what I can do.
It would be nice if you mail me another docs with any formula problems. If I reproduce that problems with 3.5 so I upload that documents to this bug or open new one.

More complex doc file

I booted in my laptop in Windows 7 32bit, and tested the following versions:
LibreOffice 3.4.2
LibreOffice 3.4.4
LibreOffice 3.5b
all downloaded from the official site.
The bug appears even in 3.5b.
I sent you a doc saved in 3.5b (win7 32bit) , that appears bad in my system.
When you press double click on an equation , the equation appears fine in the pop-up window but not on the document itshelf.
Comment 8 tester8 2012-01-12 05:09:33 UTC
With "More complex doc file" it is reproduced, formulae not small but distorted.
Comment 9 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2012-01-31 12:33:36 UTC
Reproducible with LO 3.5.0 rc2+ on the 4th attachment (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=55481).
It is a very old bug, I have ever seen in OOo.

It seems that the problem comes from the gap between the border and the formula object. When you double-click on the formula to edit it, that restore the correct size of the object and the gap is now zero. You can change the gap to zero without editing the formula, only by the right-click menu, tab border: activate the border, change the gap to 0 and hide the border. Now the size of the formula seems correct.

Best regards. JBF

*** Bug 45349 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 11 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2013-01-13 18:26:59 UTC
I do not reproduce the bug anymore with LO 4.0.0.1+ under Ubuntu 12.04 x86-64.
@Reporter: could you try with current RC of LO 4.0 to see if the problem still occur on your side?

Thank you very much for your help. JBF
Comment 12 Toussis Manolis 2013-01-13 22:09:09 UTC
I installed a free copy of libreoffice on my win7 partition (64bit) Libreoffice 4rc1. I don't use rc versions on my working linux partition.
The problem with formula distortion does not happen. So I hope it is solved finally. Thanks!

But...
I cannot share you opinion on comment #10, that this bug and the bug #45349 are duplicates.
That bug cannot be reproduced solidly, and causes data (formula) loss, not some minor display glitch, like this reported bug.
My opinion is to leave bug #45349 open at least for a while, to see if someone can reproduce it with 4.00 version.

Thank you again for your time.
Comment 13 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2013-01-13 22:24:21 UTC
Bug 45349 is not set anymore as duplicate of this one.

Not reproducible anymore in LO 4.0.0.1. So closing as WorksForMe as we don't know which commit fixed the problem.

Best regards. JBF

Sorry the bug still exists in version 4.0.1.2.
Yesterday I wrote a 10page document with many equation objects, and many ofthem are skewed.

Never independently confirmed by QA team - moving to UNCONFIRMED. Thanks
Comment 16 Buovjaga 2014-11-16 17:31:21 UTC
Formulas not twisturbed in either document -> WFM. If original reporter objects, they can change to UNCONFIRMED.
