Snapshot, look at the bottom :)

steps:
1.Goto Insert -> 頁碼(A) (Sorry I can't provide the exact English name currently) .
2.select the 頁尾(C) then input a LONG string in 頁尾文字(E) then apply.

Expected to see:
1.Reasonable LONG string should be in center, too.

But see:
1.The string started from the left side of the center then displayed to all the way to the right edge, not centered with some way like word wrapping.

I can also see this in English build.

1. Insert -> Page Number...
2. In the footer text field of the dialog, input a very long description
3. Press Apply
4. Press F5 to play the slide

Henry,

For bug testing purporces you always can start LO in English without any change to system localisation. Just type in terminal

export LANG=C
libreoffice3.4

I am not sure about libreoffice3.4 command (because in my case it is lodev3.5), may be it is libreoffice3 or just libreoffice.
I use this method a lot.

@tester8
Thanks for your explanation, however I am much like an user rather than a tester then ;)

Reproduced in 3.3.4 and 3.5.2 on Fedora 64 bit

Workaround during creating of resentation: cut text from field "Footer text" and paste to field "Date and time->Fixed".

Opening files ppt/pptx/odp form other offices not tested yet

Changing version to 3.3.4 as most early reproducible
Comment 6 A (Andy) 2013-04-27 08:15:10 UTC
not reproducible with LO 4.0.2.2 (Win7 Home, 64bit)

Was this maybe already resolved in the meantime?
Does this issue still persist for you with the latest release of LO? If not, then I would propose to close this issue.

-----

But there is another buggy issue. The footer text only appears after inserting a new slide.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Impress, then it starts with an empty slide for a new presentation
2. Go to INSERT -> PAGE NUMBER
3. Go to the tab SLIDE and activate FOOTER and type any text in the FOOTER TEXT field and then afterwards select APPLY
Result: no footer text is shown
4. Insert a new slide by a right mouse click on the left or by INSERT -> SLIDE
Result: now the footer text appears

Therefore, I would propose to open another bug report for this issue.
