Description Aydar 2011-12-02 20:08:17 UTC
We get an error when using spreadsheet in a shared mode.
The normal process should look that way.
User A saves a shared document. The document was modified and saved by another user since user A opened the document. If the changes do not conflict, the document is saved. If the changes conflict, the Resolve Conflicts dialog will be shown. User A must decide for the conflicts which version to keep, "Keep Mine" or "Keep Other". When all conflicts are resolved, the document is saved. While user A resolves the conflicts, no other user is able to save the shared document.

But after a while we get duplicate conflicts from the same user. It may be any user making changes, not just user A. Every change in the spreadsheet coming from the same user brings about a conflict from the same user. After such usage some data we edited in this spreadsheet got lost or corrupt. There are some OpenBasic Macros in the spreadsheet that use line insertions but not cell insertions which as we know is prohibited and can bring to LO inmmediate crash.

We used Centos 2.16 as a server over Samba. But we tried Ubuntu 10.04 and Windows Server with the same results. Terminal computers were Linux Mint 10, but we tried Ubuntu 10.04, Windows XP, Mac OS X 10.6. The file permissions for both the spreadsheet and the corresponding lock file were set so that all collaborators can create, delete, and change the files. There were up to 7 collaborators.

The problem was not solved since OOo 3.1 up to LibreOffice 3.3.

Can you contribute a test instruction, that will reliably show the bug?

Spreadsheet generating this error

This is the file that generate this error. When you press the button "Add Row" it runs a macro adding a row with a date you provide. The row is added between appropriate dates in the table. The macro works fine in non-shared mode, but when used in shared mode it accidentally erases or clears some needed rows and adds duplicate rows. It also generates unexpected conflicting errors which are not supposed to appear at all. Try running this file with at least 2 users and you will definitely see it.
