Created attachment 54705 [details] testcase When saving the attached testcase as .doc and opening in word 2007 the footer is zapped (and the behaviour is even more 'interesting' when saving as a docx flavour)
I can confirm something similar. four page word doc. add a default footer, insert page number. Save an dclose the doc. Reopen, no default footer? First page has 'front page' footer, that doesn't disappear. Save as odt, no problems. Using LibreOffice 3.4.4 OOO340m1 (Build:402) on Ubunutu 11.10.
Reproduced in 3.5.3 on Fedora 64 bit document contains table in footer. When we save as doc format, msWord 2007 can not open footer. Writer opens produced doc file with footer (correctly). Workaround: save as odt format. msWord 2007 sp2 opens it correctly.
Still happening with LO4.3.1RC1 OSX 10.9.4.
