Problem is not limited to SVG pictures, you can also reproduce it with screenshot in document.

Very old bug, I also see it with LibO 3.4, LibO 3.3, OOo 3.1.1

Please check if this bug is reproducible with the latest stable release.

@bfoman:
Why should I? Is the step by step instruction too unintelligible?

Why not? You know exactly what is wrong here (as it's your bug report), so please recheck. I got mixed results when trying to reproduce (no top picture and Read error message).

<https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugTriage#Process>; I wrote it this afternoon, it's common sense.

With what machine and what OS? I believe you should check again and submit a Bug if you can confirm your results in a second test (an please put me to CC); But may be the read error is limited to very old LibO Versions, I saw it with WIN 3.3.3). I wonder why you did not see "Bug 38785 - EDITING flip preview does not refresh with svg images correctly"

I was able to reproduce the problem from original report here with 3.5.2.2 on a different WIN7 64 Bit Machine, so NEW.

Still [Reproducible] with parallel installation of Master "LOdev " 3.7.0.0.alpha0+ - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) ENGLISH UI [Build ID: c3dc9a3]" (tinderbox: 2008R2@20, pull time 2012-07-05 08:52:02)

I observe that also the Crop preview is affected (when flip preview is missing there only an empty frame instead of picture is shown).

I was not able to reproduce the problem on Ubuntu 12 64Bit LibO 3.5.0, so really might be WIN only.

@András:
May be you can have a look?

Yes, I noticed it. Do not want to off-topic here about that update, but clearly you can see by yourself that this "bothering" message helped to triage this old bug and who knows, maybe it will be fixed sooner than later...

still reproducible under Win8.1 x64 using LibO 4.3.4.1
however if after step 6 you close the file and reload it, the image preview is back.
