Writer, Calc, and Impress clashes on finding text by selecting [Edit] - [Find] or Ctrl+F. This bug began to appear when find textbox is undocked from toolbar at the bottom. This can be reproduced every time. This bug appears in ubuntu 11.04 and does not in Windows 7.
I didn't reproduce this problem on Writer and Calc (didn't test on Impress) on 3.5 branch (I undocked the toolbar containing find each time). I'm on pc Debian x86-64 and used brand new documents for both tests. Have you got error messages in console ? Do you have the problem on brand new documents ? If it's specific to some documents, could you attach one ? Did you mean with your explanation that if toolbar is docked at the bottom, everything is ok ?
> Have you got error messages in console ? Yes, I dot following messages: The program 'soffice' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 15350 error_code 8 request_code 42 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) > Do you have the problem on brand new documents ? Yes, I do. > Did you mean with your explanation that if toolbar is docked at the bottom, > everything is ok ? Yes, basically OK. But I have got other errors which I have reported.
I reproduced the problem with master ! In fact, I had to undock Find + restart LO to reproduce it.
Critical on 3.5.0 release. Debian Squeeze.
I had this error : The program 'soffice' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 14094 error_code 8 request_code 42 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) After opening Edit menu with "find and replace" several times (!), Ctrl-F works fine without crashing. Now I cannot unlocked Find toolbar, but I think it is another bugs.
Don't hesitate to update the status of the tracker if you disagree. I put this one as duplicate instead of the contrary because the other is more general but perhaps I'm wrong. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 46687 ***
