Description Harald Koester 2012-02-04 15:14:25 UTC
Two Problems:

[1] My printer driver also supports, like LO, a "Pages per sheet" option. This option does not work together with LO. Suppose you want to print 2 pages on one sheet. You choose the LO option "1 page per sheet" and the printer driver option "2 pages per sheet". In this case two sheets are printed in landscape format. On the left side of the sheets one page is printed and the right side is empty. If you change the options (LO: 2 pages per sheet, Printer driver: 1 page per sheet) the document is printed correct: 2 pages on one sheet in landscape format.
By the way: This problem was my first impression when I changed from OOo to LO and a thought "Oh sh...". With OOo 3.3
the printer driver option worked correct.

[2] My printer driver supports a manual duplex printing: Printer starts with left pages, message from printer driver to put the sheets vice versa into the paper tray, printer prints right pages. This function of the printer driver does not work together with LO. In this case all pages are printed one after another without a break on the same side of the sheets. Also here OOo worked as expected here.

To both problems you can say "LO supports this function too". But you have to know it (I did not.) and if you know you have to search for it. And if you are used to use the printer options, you don't want to change your behaviour, especially if you use the printer options in other applications.

Printer: Brother HL-1430, OS: Win XP, LO: 3.4.5

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.2.26) Gecko/20120128 Firefox/3.6.26

Could you please show the properties of the printer in the printing dialog?
Does this problem still exist in a newer version of LO, for example the version 3.5.6

Hello Harald, Robert, *,
as Robert has not set the status to NEEDINFO, I am doing it now ... ;)
@Harald: As Robert asked in his comment 1, I would like to ask you to test it in a newer version of LO than 3.4.5. And have you tried it with a newer printer driver as well?
Sorry for the inconvenience
Thomas.

Meanwhile I use another system: Win7 with a different printer driver, LO Version 4.0.3.3.

Problems checked with this system:
Problem [1]: Works for me now.
Problem [2]: Used printer driver does not support manual duplex printing.

The problems may be still exist with my former system. But for me it's not worth to test it again. Hence from my point of view the bug can be closed.
