Description Harald Koester 2012-03-12 06:53:14 UTC
Problem description:

To reproduce the problem:

[1] Start LibreOffice and open a new text document.
[2] Tools > Options... > LibreOffice Writer > Basic Fonts (Western)
[3] Click "Default". These fonts are now displayed: Times New Roman, Arial, 3 times Times New Roman.
[4] In order to display the installed fonts click on the down arrow of the Default font.
[5] Type in a letter. A font beginning with this letter is displayed. This font is also displayed for the Index font. The other 3 basic fonts are covered with the font list.
[6] 'Esc' or click into the Default font field: The Default font changes back to "Times New Roman". But the font for Index does not change back and also the fonts for List and Caption get the same wrong font like the Index font.
Expected behaviour: Font "Times New Roman" for Default, List, Caption and Index.
[7] "OK" or "Cancel".
[8] Open options dialog again. Displayed fonts: Times New Roman, Arial, 3 times Times New Roman. This means only the display is wrong, the fonts have not been changed.

confirmed bug on Windows 7 64-bit running LibO 3.5.0rc3 (Build ID: 7e68ba2-a744ebf-1f241b7-c506db1-7d53735)

The same issue afflicts the "Basic Fonts (Asian)" option.

In addition, although clicking the buttons "default" and "revert" will change it back to display correctly, just selecting different options to configure does not cause the display to revert.

... start after Harald's step [6]

[7] Click LibreOffice Writer > Basic Fonts (Asian)
[repeat steps 4-6 to cause the display bug]
[9] swap between "Basic Fonts (Western)" and (Asian) and the bug will continue to manifest itself in the display.

Clicking OK or Cancel will not change the values (meaning that it's only a dropdown list display bug?) - confirm by re-opening the options dialog.

I'm a bit irritated, what I mean is the standard options dialogue of LibreOffice. On my system (LO 4.0.3, Win7) I open this dialogue with "Tools > Options...".

In Version 4.0.3 there is a difference, the default basic fonts have been changed meanwhile: Liberation Serif, Liberation Sans, 3 times Liberation Serif. But the general problem still exists.

Profile deleted. The result is the same.

> Should this be still reproducible for you with the latest LO release please

Problem still exists, hence set back to NEW.

Dear Harald Koester,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team
