Description Elias K Gardner 2012-03-17 10:32:22 UTC
This is a feature request.

I often receive presentation documents for an upcoming lecture. During the lecture I then take notes (using the notes tab) on each slide of the presentation. Unfortunately the UI for this places the slide directly above the notes section. This makes the slide very small and hard to read. It would be much better if they were displayed in layout with the slide to the right of the notes. Or even if there was this sort of layout in full screen with just the slide and a small notes section visible.

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this. It seems like a relatively small change that would drastically increase the usefulness of presentation for me and I think many others.

Never confirmed by a QA member (or even a 2nd person). Moving back to UNCONFIRMED. In the future please do not set your own bugs to NEW.

If this problem has been resolved since you reported the bug please mark it as RESOLVED - WORKSFORME to tell us that we no longer have to test the bug. Thanks!

Agreed, a separate dockable kind of 'toolbar' will be handy in this situation.

Kind regards,
Joren

Hi guys, no update here.
Is anything moving.
I find the possibility to edit the noted and the page in the same time really useful.
May be the note can be only a text version of it.

It's now march 2020 and it seems the issue is still around...
This would be a critical improvement in usability. The use of notes is indeed quite uncomfortable the way is right now.

Hi,

It is almost 9 years since this was reported. Is there a chance this will make it to a release any time soon?

Thanks
JB

This is one of the very handy and quite usable things in PowerPoint that I have this simple window on the bottom to type my notes. I really miss this in Impress.

and I would be surprised if this is some thing hard to implement (for someone who is familiar with LibreOffice)
Comment 8 Kara 2022-02-15 01:18:52 UTC
I would appreciate this as a feature as well! Thanks!
Comment 9 Josko 2022-03-22 13:33:36 UTC
I'd also appreciate this feature. The way around would be to open the same file in two windows, as it can be done in calc using the macro

Any such macro available for impress?

I don't understand this, this request has been here for 10 year already.

The notes view is absolutely monstrous and not usable.

Please add the notes pane under the slide, just like MS Powerpoint.

I think Softmaker or WPS has this "feature".

LO is volunteer based, devs choose what they want. So bug can be closed in a day or not closed in a decade. There's hardly anyone to blame, you can do it yourself or find or pay someone do it.
Only thing I see as wrong is that Enhancements are kept as Medium or rarely High priority, and that mostly based on a number of CCs or duplicates, Highest is downgraded. IMO that's wrong, In addition to all, some issues including Enhancements can be of Highest priority not to wait another decade.

+1: really cumbersome, as it is now.

I am certainly grateful for all the great work that went into LO so far and appreciate the fact that it's a volunteer effort: I'm leaving the comment just to highlight that this feature is missed.
