Description Markus Grob 2012-03-20 16:20:37 UTC
Problem description:
The format of the site is changed by copying text from Lotus Notes (8.5)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Mark some text in Lotus Notes (I have tried mith the mailmodul and a helpdesk application).
2. Insert it in a (blank) writer document

Current behavior:
The format of the page changes from A4 to letter and the space at the sides is also changed from 2cm to 3.xcm.

Expected behavior:
The text is inserted without changing something on the page. Only the format of the paragraph could be changed, if nothing was there. But if the parapraph isn't empty, the text was to be changed all to the actual format.

Earlier versions:
LO 3.4 crashed after inserting twice on the same line, but only changes the paragraph.

Other programs:
If I copy the text first in Notepad++ and from there into LO -> all works fine.

Platform (if different from the browser):
Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:11.0) Gecko/20120307 Firefox/11.0 SeaMonkey/2.8
Build-ID: dc9775d-05ecbee-0851ad3-1586698-727bf66 (3.5.1.2)

I don't think it's really a bug but perhaps I'm wrong. If it's one, can you try this workaround ?
- copy text from Lotus Notes
- go to Writer
- use "Copy paste" then the option "Unformatted text"
Comment 2 Markus Grob 2012-03-26 14:24:14 UTC
It works with the "unformatted text", but this isn't the solution. It shouldn't be, that an inserted text could change the pagesettings from A4 to letter and change the border settings.
The problem is also, that you can't reverse it automatically. You have to do it manually.

I can understand, if I enter a text in a new paragraph, that this paragraph takes the inserted format, but if I enter text in an existing paragraph with text, then it has to be automatically transformed into the existing textformat. All other behavier seems to be wrong for me.

Hope, this explanation is understandable ;-)

Greetings from Switzerland, Markus
