As already discussed in bug 42986, there are currently no default templates in Impress for the 16:9 format. Please add those. Thanks.

Version 3.6 has shiny new templates, which are 16:9 by default. BTW it is possible to change slide format and all the presentation stuff scales accordingly. For some reason that did not work before. :-\
