Description Jogi 2012-04-14 03:33:31 UTC
Problem description:

When adding a caption to a picture and chosing a Character Style from Options, this character style is resetted at the next time you want to ad a caption.
I know that it has been remembered in version 3.4.5.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Right click on image
2. Chose 'Caption'
3. Chose 'Options'
4. Set specific Character style
5. Press OK
--> Everything is fine for this Caption.

6. Repeat step 1-3: character style is set to 'None'

Current behavior:
Doesn't save your choice

Expected behavior:
Should save your choice

This is by design. It's assumed that if you are adding more than one caption you'll want to set the style for each one. I'm going to confirm that it's true by setting to NEW, marking as an Enhancement and Lowest as I'm not sure that we'll change it (we'll discuss it), and it probably doesn't affect many users. Also there is an easy work around (just set the style every time). Thanks for reporting

This bug is still present in LO 3.6.2.2

I am sorry, but this doesn't make too much sense. Saving the last used character style as the default for the next caption does not in any way stop the user from setting a different one if he wants to.

Well, there's two now and certainly way more non-vocal ones.

If you are working with up to 200 figures per document this becomes an annoying and completely unnecessary chore. Even more so because autocaption does not work for images inserted through DnD or copy-paste (see this bug for reference: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51850).

I urge you to reconsider adding this function to LO. It's a small change with the potential to save many users' time and nerves.

Version represents the OLDEST version that this has been confirmed on, not the latest it's been tested on. For latest tested on we just use comments. Thanks for the update
