problematic document

Opening this documents in LibreOffice gives such bad results they are (nearly) unusable. The difficulty seems to be the use of images in headers / footers that are not scaled nor placed correctly.

Compare with the PDFs generated from Microsoft Word.

Compare with the result from Abiword, or antiword (PostScript file). They both give suboptimal, but usable results.

The antiword PostScript files uses GhostScript extensions, use e.g. Ghostview to see it.

I understand, but if you remove the image and text which are not visible in the pdf, then you get a document very similar to what is seen in the pdf.
I do not know how it is possible to have some text in the doc which is not exported in the pdf.

Best regards. JBF

Checked with:
LO 3.6.3.1
Build ID: f8fce0b
Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit

The problem with this file are Apsal.NET, Description des modifications and company graphics embedded somehow. When those are deleted, file looks good.
BTW: I don't see those objects in Word 2010.

Word document corrected in 2010.

Hi all,

The original word document was corrupted !
I have open it in word 2010.
- Search Graphic parts (we can search object in word) => the third object found is in header and we cannot see it ???
- So, Ctrl-A in header, paste the content in a new doc, and there is one big image and 2 lines text we don't see in WORD header...but we can see in Libo :-)
- Deleted the graphics
- Copy/paste of this text to overwrite original header.
- The new WORD document is joined here.

So as Libo was correct here and has show that word was'nt.
I close this "bug" as notabug.

For the people that dont have both applications installed, I attached screenshots of the 1st and 2nd pages in both Microsoft Office 2010 and LibreOffice 3.6.1.2. of the 1st attachment: "attachment 60798 [details], problematic document, Modifications_Gesall.doc" .

When importing a document in MS Word format, it is more important to do the same as MS Word (for compatibility reasons) that something "correct". Thus reopening.

Dear Lionel Elie Mamane,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team
