Description Marc Pare 2012-05-07 22:19:54 UTC
Problem description: Some users I know are using LibreOffice in professional settings and participate in many committees. At times they are asked to email file copies in .doc/.pdf formats to other committee members or colleagues.

I was wondering if it would be possible to modify the behavior of the "File->Send" function so that it would be possible to email more than just one exported document at a time as email attachments.

Both of these individuals are using the "Send" feature extensively, however, when they have to send more than one exported file (mostly .doc's or .pdf's) they, instead, have to resort to exporting copies of these files, which are then stored on their hard drives, and later sent through their email software as attachments.

If it were possible, instead, to "Send" MORE than one exported document, the need to export+store other formatted files would be minimized. This would allow for the recognition of a stronger ODF brand of file format and give the users the perception that the ODF formats are more of the upcoming "de facto" file formats. Not to mention the fact of the convenience of sending multiple exported documents from inside LibreOffice.

Current behavior: "File->Send" is only capable of sending one document at a time as an attachment email

Expected behavior: "File->Send" would send MORE than one document at a time as attachment email.

Platform (if different from the browser): all OS's

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.4) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.4

Perhaps an intermediate step can be built in, to add the current document to some kind of clipboard in which you can choose to send the entire clipboard at once.

If this would also allow a user the ability to add more of any exported files, that would be great!.

At least it would guarantee that users would work with ODF files only and they would get used to seeing their LibreOffice file formats as being "the real file" while the other formatted files would be more like "the secondary file-types" that other office software suites use.

Sorry, I am not a coder and do not know if this would involve a lot of work.

Thanks for help.

Marc

this is a new feature request, never present in any LibO release, so I change version to 3.3.0 and status to NEW.

I'm not 100% sure but probably there's an extension that does what you asked for.
try searching both in the AOO and LibO extension repositories:
