Description wvvelzen 2012-05-21 06:55:31 UTC
WordPerfect's QuatroPro has a "Convert to values..." function, which I often use, and am missing in LibreOffice's Calc.

It is described in QP's help as follows:

To convert a formula to a value

1. Select a cell containing a formula.
2. Click Edit Convert to values.
3. Type the destination cells in the To box.

To replace a formula in a cell with its value, specify the same cells in the To box as are in the From box.
To copy the value of a formula to another part of the notebook, specify the top-left cell to which you want to copy the value.

Can't you just use paste -> Special and do Values? Please expand a bit if this isn't the case, marking as NEEDINFO

Yes, that would work, I didn't know about that (and believe me I did search for such a function), so thanks! ;)

Although there are some inconveniences with this alternative:

- You have to click a bit more then the single "convert to values" function to get what you want.
- Paste special doesn't have a single "values" check mark. So you have to specifically select the right combination of "text", "numbers", "date & time", and "formats", to get what you want.

LibreOffice 4(.1) doesn't seem to have a "Values" option in the "Paste Special" function. So I do think this enhancement request is now even more valid!

Calc 6.3.4.2 (on Linux) does have a "Values" option, it is the "$0" button on the top left of the paste special dialog.
So this request can be closed as resolved?

In the windows version 6.2.8.2 of Calc I see the function:

Data / Calculate / Formula to value

Which does exactly what I want/suggested. I'm still on an older linux version (5.2.5), which I can't check right now.

But I suppose the linux version has the same functionality as the windows version, so if that is the case this "bug" can be closed.

I verified the "Data / Calculate / Formula to value" option is also in my linux version 5.2.5.1. So I set the status to "RESOLVED/FIXED".

Thanks for retesting the issue with the latest version.
