Description Tobias Burnus 2012-06-12 06:41:57 UTC
If you drag a snap line out of the ruler in Impress or Draw and right-click on it, get a context menu. Choose "Edit Snap Line ..."

If the position is positive, the dialog shows the proper X or Y value for the snap line.

However, if the page origin is to the right or below the snap line, the dialog shows just 0.00" / 0.00 cm. (You can change the origin of the page coordinate system by mouse-click plus dragging of the intersecting lines at the top/left of the ruler.)

Expected: Edit Snap Line shows a the position (negative value) in the latter case - instead of showing 0.0

Hello Tobias, *,
what do you mean with "drag a snap line out of the ruler"? If you remove a snap line out of the ruler, you remove it out of your document (so it is described in the Help from LO) ... ;) Could you provide a step-by-step instruction (or maybe attach some screenshots to this bug)? I am not sure, if I understand you correctly here ... :(
Sorry for the inconvenience
Thomas.

Doesn't work for me with 3.6.0 Beta 3 @ CentOS 5.7 x86_64.

No, if you do that you move an (existing) snap line to/into the ruler - and delete it. I am doing the opposite: I want to create a snap line.

Maybe the following is clearer.

Variant A:
-----------------------------
* Right (mouse) click, and choose "Insert Snap Point/Line...". There, create a vertical snap object at position "-1.00 cm".

Expected: A snap line is created at that position, which is by default 1cm left of the left page edge (grey background).

Result: No snap line is created.
-----------------------------

Variant A:
-----------------------------
* Create a snap line by clicking on the ruler, keeping the mouse pressed and and dragging a snap line out of the rule. Place it in the gray area left [or top] of the page (or more precisely: at negative coordinates).

Result: The snap line is properly created, but right (mouse) clicking on it and choosing "Edit Snap Line..." shows "0.00" as coordinate instead of the expected, e.g. "-1.24cm".
-----------------------------

The problem seems to be that the Edit Snap Line and Insert Snap Point/Line dialogs only handle nonnegative coordinates while in reality negative coordinates can occur. (Especially if the coordinate origin is moved from the top left page corner.)

I also have the problem. I move the origin from the top corner. And then I draw a SnapLine in the negative range. The linieal shows the coordinates correct. But the details of the context menu (right click) is at 0.0? Is there a solution for this problem?

Confirm with Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: bc42d992439de77b0e60a8435b2a134d886f0f76
Works with 3.3.4 and LibreOffice 3.5.5.3 all Win 7 x64

So regression and "NEW" Changed version to oldest known version not working

Can someone please retest, if this issue persists with 4.4b2?
