Created attachment 64369 [details] Full Screen Mode is not Full Screen Entering full screen mode in LibreOffice Writer leaves two toolbars open. They are neither necessary nor helpful. Even the button to exit full screen mode should be scrapped, since the Esc key already provides a simple and intuitive way to do this. The UI in full screen mode should be as clean and spare as possible. That's why people use full screen mode in the first place. Small UI annoyances such as this, I believe, are a significant reason most people stick with Microsoft Office rather than switch to an opensource alternative.
Created attachment 64481 [details] Screenshot of full-screen mode (3.5.5.3) on MacOS X Thank you very much for your bug report! I suggest to distinguish here between two issues: (1) that the Find toolbar is still visible in full-screen mode (see reporter's screenshot); (2) the question if even "the button to exit full screen mode" should be hidden in full-screen mode. (ad 1) The Find toolbar issue is NOT reproducible with LibreOffice 3.5.5.3 (Build-ID: 7122e39-92ed229-498d286-15e43b4-d70da21) on MacOS X 10.6.8: the Find toolbar gets hidden as soon as I enter full-screen mode, even if the Find toolbar was visible and had the focus before. => Therefore, it seems that this is a Windows-only issue; could please someone else test with Windows? Thank you! (ad 2) What regards "the button to exit full screen mode", which is still visible in full screen mode, I think this is a matter of taste, not a clear bug; there are definitely people who will prefer that this button (or even toolbar) is visible in full-screen mode all the time. Our UI Design group should discuss this.
The Full Screen toolbar has the Close Toolbar option disabled (greyed out), so it is impossible to remove it. Thus it is impossible to use the whole screen to view a document in LibreOffice, because part of the screen will always be obscured by the Full Screen toolbar. Other software, such as Firefox, Adobe Reader, etc do not have this problem. There is no logical reason why the user should be prevented from closing the Full Screen toolbar. It is present by default, protecting the novice user from being trapped in Full Screen mode, but the user should be permitted to close/hide it. A nice touch would be to retract the toolbar / all toolbars from the top of the screen like Firefox does, scrolling them back when the mouse touches top of screen, however it would be simpler to just allow the toolbar to be closed.
Although this may be an intentional state, I consider it a bug, because Full Screen should be just that, and it is an impediment to working with documents to have a toolbar on top. For example, I use full-screen charts, and data is obscured behind the toolbar.

Thank you! Checked with: LO 4.0.1.2 Build ID: own W7 debug build Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit Could not reproduce. There are only rulers and exit full screen toolbar visible. Find toolbar gets hidden. Therefore I will mark this bug as RESOLVED WORKSFORME. @matt0454-bug@yahoo.co.uk: Please file a new bug report (enhancement request) about full screen toolbar visibility.
