Description Ajitesh Madai 2012-08-11 08:59:36 UTC
Problem description:
OS : LinuxMint 13 (based on Ubuntu 12.04)
I completely "--purge autoremove" the existing libreoffice provided by ubuntu.
Then downloaded the libreoffice 3.6 from the libreoffice.org website.
did "dpkg -i *.deb".

All products(writer,calc...) crash at splash screen.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install libreoffice using dpkg -i *.deb
2. Start libreoffice from menu.

Current behavior:

Crashes as splash.

Expected behavior:
Should open and show libreoffice products.

Platform (if different from the browser):
Linuxmint 13 MATE based on Ubuntu 12.04
uses MATE desktop environment

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0.1

Could you try with a brand new LO profile because I don't know if --purge removes it ? (see http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile) Backup yours before !

If you still reproduce it AND if lo-menubar is installed, could you test by uninstalling lo-menubar ?

I have reinstalled LO 3.6 by completely purging and deleting the profile files.
But the problem still existed.Currently i am using lo 3.5.6.2 provided by ubuntu libreoffice team PPA which is working fine.

Only the problem exits with LO 3.6 which i had installed from LO pre-releases PPA and also from the official LO.org website.
No, lo-nemubar is not installed as i am using Linuxmint MATE edition

Thank you for your feedback.

Did you install any specific font?
Could you launch LO with this command line:
strace -f <libo 3.6 directory>/soffice.bin > /tmp/strace.log 2>&1
and attach strace.log once zipped?

sorry for delayed reply..
I Libreoffice 3.6 is now available in libreoffice team ppa.
I am facing the same problem here too.But now i have only installed libreoffice writer.

the output of strace -f soffice > /tmp/strace.log 2>&1 is attached.

Thank you for your feedback.
By taking a look to your strace it seems the pb is "Aquabase-spanish-support.ttf"
You should read about this tracker:https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53258.
The fix is planned for 3.6.2 release.

Indeed Aquabase-spanish-support.ttf is the culprit.
I deleted it from the .fonts folder..Now everything is working fine
