We are having users that are saving documents into the various temporary folders of other software packages that open LibreOffice. For instance, when in Evolution (email) the document is in the tmp folder for that software and when users do a SaveAs it defaults to the current folder. When the contents of that folder are purged as part of normal housekeeping they lose their work. We are requesting that LibreOffice look to an environmental variable for folders that are invalid to save. If that is the working directory, it should then go to their MyDocuments folder. Something like this: LO_INVALID_FOLDERS="/tmp;$HOME/.evolution/cache/tmp;$HOME/tmp"
Thank you for reporting this enhancement request! I can confirm that this is a valid enhancement request on: Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+Build ID: 09a4c4d176ff97ab8ff4027af83a549991667baf Date: Sat Nov 16 20:32:43 2013 +0100 Platform: Ubuntu Linux 13.04 x64 + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + As I've been able to confirm the enhancement request I am marking as: New (confirmed) Enhancement Lowest - I mean really this is just user error and an attempt to avoid user error. Adding an entirely new option to avoid users not knowing that a tmp directory is a bad place to save things. I know some of our devs are already really unhappy with how many options we have for things that perhaps don't need options. But none the less, valid request so marking as NEW + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + LibreOffice is powered by a team of volunteers, every bug is confirmed (triaged) by human beings who mostly give their time for free.
