Each time I close a document any words I have added are not stored permanently. As soon as I go do another document that uses the same words I have to "add" it again.

Any advice is welcome, thanks.

Please check if custom dictionary is enabled in Tools>Options>Language Settings>Writing Aids.

I confirm that clicking "add" in the context menu for a word with red underlining adds it to the custom dictionary but if the dictionary is not selected the words are not recognised.

I think that the Add feature should be "greyed out" when a custom dictionary is not enabled or a pop-up should warn the user that the custom-dictionary is disabled (with the possibility) to disable future warnings.

I confirm this bug. I have also added words to the dictionary. The added words are not shown as error in that document anymore but closing the document or opening a new one points out the same word as error. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, LibreOffice 4.1.0.4

same findings on 4.1.0.4 under Win7 64bit.
you need to have a custom dictionary enabled in order to permanently store those new added words.

setting status to NEW and adding Writer expert in CC list.

WORKSFORME

Using the default LO nightly without any dictionaly customization.

1. open new writer document and write "Unterwatzenbolt"
2. spellcheck finds and complains about that word
3. select "add to dictionary"
4. close LO
5. reopen LO and write Unterwatzenbolt
6. spellcheck
7. nothing found

Success!
