Description tomaskeb 2012-08-26 18:12:27 UTC
Problem description: When I set a certain way of paragraph styles view in the bottom of the dialog, then come to other list (eg. character, page styles) and then back again to paragraph styles, the view automatically changes to "all styles".

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open character styles and set the view to "automatic".
2. Go to other section of styles.

Current behavior: The character styles view is se to "all styles".

Expected behavior: The character styles view remains as I set it (i.e. "automatic").

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/21.0.1180.83 Safari/537.1

Sorry for my mistake, there should be "paragraph" instead of "character" styles from steps to reproduce onwards.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting.

Is this issue still reproducible using a more recent version of LibreOffice (4.0.3.3) for example which you can download here: http://www.libreoffice.org/download

I can not reproduce this behavior using Linux Mint 15 x64 with LibreOffice 4.0.3.3. I think this is an user profile related bug, so a user profile reset should do the job too (but 4.x creates another profile too, so it's quite the same). (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resetting_the_user_profile)

I'm going to mark this one as RESOLVED WORKSFORME right now. If this is still reproducible, please mark it again as UNCONFIRMED.

Kind regards and thanks for your time,
Joren

The Automatic view for Paragraph styles is still not saved after swithing to style list which misses it.

Okay, thanks for your reply. If I comprehend it well, you can reproduce this behavior, so lets mark it as such.

I'd say this differently: if you choose paragraph style view in Sidebar (like Applied, Custom..), it's retained for other lists (eg. character, page styles) if it exists. But if it was Automatic, it doesn't exist, so it's changed to All. That's why it's not coming back, probably there's no coming back at all.
So I change the title from "Style list view not coming back" to "Sidebar: Style list view that doesn't exist in other style list (like Automatic) not remembered when coming back to the first style list (like Paragraph)".
But it's still not obvious how to solve this.

I think the additional categories in the Paragraph style list should be removed as well as majority of the pre-defined styles themselves. Seriously, who uses "HTML styles" or a separate style for "beginning/end of list"? No one.

And yes, still in 6.2.0.2.

Dear tomaskeb,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa
