Description dhaggs1 2012-09-01 18:25:03 UTC
Problem description:
If the code for a formula is entered into a text document, and then the formula editor command is issued to convert the code to a formula, the formula base font size should match the size of the original text. Instead, it defaults to base font size of 12pt.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Enter formula code into a text document (e.g. "3 + 5 cdot X")
2. Select the formula coding
3. Click on the formula editor icon if it is on your toolbar

Current behavior:
The preceeding steps results in the code turning into a formula with a base font size of 12pt.
Expected behavior:
The constructed formula should be created with a base font size that matches the size of the original formula code text.

Platform (if different from the browser):
Windows Vista

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0

That would be a good edit enhancement, which would work without changing file format.
For a more general approach see bug 32419.

I am finding this bug too in the 4.2.8.2 release.

It only occurs when the document is a word .doc document, not when it is .odt.

Still a problem in 5.4. (Unsure how to find/add the formula toolbar button in older versions of LO (like 3.5) - but it is there by default now in 5.4).
Probably should be closed as a duplicate of the bug in comment 1, which is labelled as an easy-hack.

What should happening if you change size of basic text in your document? Font size in all formulas should change also?

There is an extension https://extensions.libreoffice.org/extensions/formatting-of-all-math-formulas for changing font and font size for all formulas in your document
