Description andre 2012-10-12 04:30:34 UTC
Problem description:
Not sure if this belongs here or in the extension section as it concerns the sun report builder extension which comes as default in LO3.6.6.2. The basic problem is that graphs don't work in the report builder. Although they will be visible in report design view, an error is generated as soon as I try to execute the report.

I think automated graphing in database reports is a core functionality for making decent reports so it would be great if this could somehow get addressed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. create a simple data table, e.g. with name and age categories and some entries and save it.
2. Go to reports and click on 'create report in design view' (sun report builder opens as default)
3. try to create a graph in any section (header, footer or detail) using the data from your simple data table
4. you will be able to see the graph in the report builder
5. Click on execute report and an error comes up (see below)...

Current behavior:
Upon trying to execute the report with graph, the following message comes up:

"An error occurred while creating the report"

If I click on the "More" Button, it tells me:

"SQL Status: S1000

An error occurred while creating the report."

If I click on 'information' it says:

"An exception of type com.sun.star.lang.WrappedTargetException was caught."

Other Error, information is:

"Failed to parse the report."

Expected behavior:
The report-builder cooperates with my needs and executes properly so that I can produce nice graphs based on the data in the database.

Do you mean charts? The have a look at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48056 . The problem exists since LO 3.5.* and (also) in OOo 3.3.

The message you see is not the same, but could be the same reason.

Hi, yes I did mean charts. I think this is essentially the same problem. I am new to these bug discussions so find it a little hard to understand what is going on. Also from the pdf you attached on the other bug report (48056), I can see that the same error report is getting generated. Do you think some kind of fix is in sight?

Thanks,

Andre

I could not say, if there is anybody who will fix this problem. But I don't use other versions than LO 3.3.4 with my databases. This isn't only because of this regression.
I set this bug as duplicate of 48056. Te less bugs in Base we have, so much the better bugs could be solved.
