Created attachment 68821 [details] MS Word 2007 problematic file Fileopen problem? All files MS Word open OK but some hang Writer about 4 seconds after opening it if you try to edit or scroll. There is a few seconds to click on the first page and type something so it could be a structural problem that lies at the end of the document since it takes those seconds for Writer to read it and reach that point. It seems the structural problem appears after or just before the word: "Santoral": if I remove that part from word, the document opens OK This rules out the macros' problems. I attach similar files generated by the same PC/Word program: a) Doesn't open in Writer: 2011.10.20.doc b) Works OK if you save it from MS Word 2007 to: 2011.10.20.docx 2011.10.20.rtf 2011.10.20 without santoral part.doc Maybe it could be related to this (I haven't tried it since I don't know where to insert the patch): https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55185 thanks!
Created attachment 68822 [details] Problematic MS Word 2007 file I made a mistake and previously attached a txt file instead of the .doc one
Created attachment 68824 [details] .docx file has no problem Saved by the same Word 2007 in the same windows vista PC
Created attachment 68825 [details] .rtf file generates no problem Saved by the same Word 2007 in the same windows vista PC
Created attachment 68826 [details] .doc file generates no problem if section removed Saved by the same Word 2007 in the same windows vista PC
When using File --> Wizards --> Document Converter, the doc file is converted to odt but when opening it, Writer hangs as before
File opens fine with AbiWord 2.8
I can reproduce the results in 3.6.4.3 (win7, 64bit) but only partial in 4.0 (win xp, 32bit VM) (Version 4.0.0.0.beta1+ (Build ID: f4cae670e314f5e869d7d9ac15ea51c3c9cf66f)) as this is working "ok" with 100% CPU.
Checking the doc with Symphony and AOO3.4.1 without any problems, getting always a warning about a macro (there is indeed one, but an empty one!) and after removing that LO isn't having any problems.
APPHANG on Windows 7 x64 with Version 4.0.3.1 (Build ID: a67943cd4d125208f4ea7fa29439551825cfb39) crash with 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: fa72fc3eddbfabb82193452a4ba993b11d1584d TinderBox: Win-x86@6, Branch:master, Time: 2013-04-18_23:11:53 and Linux: Self-built Version: 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 75c87c417b6fbb82d956a803f065c9c49d0d62f
