Description Peter 2012-12-11 07:07:08 UTC
Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a new writer doc

2. From the format menu choose paragraph, bottom left adjust line spacing to 1.5

3. It will not stick next time any doc is opened. Yet choice character from the Format menu, select your font and size, you will find it will stick.

Why the different behaviour?
How to make line spacing stick?

Current behavior: As described above.

Expected behavior: Consistent with choosing Fonts.

Operating System: Windows 7
Comment 1 David 2012-12-17 01:35:47 UTC
I think I am experiencing this same bug. I create a paragraph style based on another style. I change the left indent but do not want the bottom spacing changed from what the "linked with" style uses. I save & close the document and when I re-load it the bottome paragraph spacing has been set to 0" even though the "linked with" style is greater than 0". The only way I can fix it is by manually setting the bottom but that makes for extra work if I want to change the spacing since I need to change it for each style instead of just changing it in the "linked with" style.
Comment 2 Michael Stahl (allotropia) 2012-12-18 18:58:01 UTC
first, the problem in comment #1 appears to be unrelated, please file a separate bug.

second, please only set "regression" keyword if you also specify a particular older LO/OOo version in which the bug did not appear.

third, AFAIK none of the settings you make via Format menu are stored in the configuration & thus do not survive a restart and do not affect newly created documents; the only ways to change the defaults are:

a) Tools->Options->Writer->Basic Fonts etc. which allows setting default fonts and sizes but not other options

b) defining a new default template for Writer documents, with a Default Style that matches your preferences

According to comment #2 (I confirm this comment) I propose to close this bug report as WorksForMe or NotABug.
