I wouldn't be horribly surprised if this is a duplicate of one of our other performance issues but not positive so: Thank you for reporting this issue! This particular bug appears to relate to column handling. I tested the provided (unchanged) file under Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64 running: - v3.3.0.4 OOO330m19 Build: 6 - v3.4.6.2 OOO340m1 Build: 602 - v3.5.7.2 Build ID: 3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b - v3.6.7.2 Build ID: e183d5b - v4.0.6.2 Build ID: 2e2573268451a50806fcd60ae2d9fe01dd0ce24 - v4.1.4.2 Build ID: 0a0440ccc0227ad9829de5f46be37cfb6edcf72 Versions 3.3.0.4 through 3.5.7.2 scrolled as expected without noticeable lag. Scrolling in 3.6.7.2 was markedly slower. Scrolling in 4.0.6.2 was slow, but not as bad as 3.6.7.2. Scrolling in 4.1.4.2 seemed slower again than 3.6.7.2. I then removed the initial yellow/green tables (there are three) and this made no difference to the scrolling lag in 4.1.4.2. Using the original file again (i.e., tables included) I edited the Default Style page style and changing it to a single column which returned scrolling to an expected level in 3.6.7.2, 4.0.6.2, and 4.1.4.2. Summary amended for clarity. Appears to be a performance regression.
I also was able to reproduce this problem on ubuntu 13.10 LO 4.1.3.2 win7 LO 4.1.4.2. 4.1.3.2 seem to be better that 4.1.4.2, but that was tested on different machines (although, the second machine seem to me more fast). I can attach my document, if it is required.
Tested attachment on 4.4.0 RC2. For me, it operated normally until I did a Tools - Update - Update All. Then it was an instant severe, slow down in scrolling speed.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (5.1.6 or 5.2.3 https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo"; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! Attached file seems to now operate normally under Linux with version 5.4.2, even after doing Tools - Update - Update All.
